Hi. I’m (only) eighteen years of age and I seem to have developed a back problem.

The many different sensations are mostly located in the lower-right side of my back. It has now moved into the right side of my hip and a little bit in my stomach. I can do pretty much anything I want physically (including lifting things) and nothing seems to irritate it. Well, actually the only thing that ever seems to cause it pain is when I get in a low-to-the-ground car with low seats (must be the way I bend). It pinches a bit when I do that. Also, there is some tightness (after I stretch my entire right side) but no restriction of movement, just pain and other sensations.

I’ve been experiencing this for well over six months. The pain is pretty erratic and has it’s good days and bad days. Two days ago it was the most painful it had ever been, and the next day it seemed like it was gone (I think this is due to an awkward stretch I did in an attempt to decompress the spine, I laid down on my left side and let my legs hang off the side of the bed, which pulled my upper body a bit and relieved some pain and stretched it wonderfully, it helps a lot, but it’s definitely still there, just feels weird ), however now it’s coming back.

Sometimes it pinches, sometimes it aches, and more recently it.. kinda feels like my muscles are burning. Oh, I weigh 85 lbs (very light I know, I do eat a lot). So it couldn’t be because of weight. I’m not exactly athletic, but I walk all the time and I don’t look or feel in bad shape. My posture isn’t bad either. I’ve had a pillow behind my back for lumbar support for several months, so you’d think it’d improve by now.

I’d go to a chiropractor, but I don’t have the money to afford one + no insurance + broke parents. In time we’ll be able to collect enough but that might be awhile. Any ideas on what this might be?

(sorry for the long post and lack of structure, writing this on no sleep)

It sounds like you have done most of the sensible things to help you back pain. Did you go to a Doctor before you went to the chiropractor?
Your back pain sounds a bit more complicated than a simple back strain, it would be good for a doctor to exclude some type of arthritis or ankylosing spondolysis (they would do this by examning you back and taking a blood test).
You say you are not very athletic, if you work on strengthening your stomach muscles (do stomach crunches with your legs in the air to your back is pushed into the floor) it may help support your back better reducing you pain.
